| Plot |
| El Cantante is a movie on the life-story of the popular Puerto Rican singer Hector Lavoe Marc Anthony) and how he became a Salsa sensation back in the 1970's. His rise to the top was not an easy one. It was filled with trials and hardships. Even with his wife Puchi (Jennifer Lopez) by his side, her love and devotion could not stop him from experiencing the downturns of popularity. He is able to so fully express himself in powerful songs of emotions, but could not seemingly do the same in his real-life relationships. Thus, he resorts to bad habits like drugs. This story tells us that fame does not necessarily bring happiness as it does not erase past pains and may just be an outlet for current problems. |
