| Plot |
| A young man dreams of playing baseball in a small town in Texas, that is until he injures his shoulder, putting an end to his dreams. Jimmy Morris (Dennis Quaid) then goes on to become a high school teacher and coach of the baseball team. When trying to motivate his team he tells them that if they will make it to the district playoffs he will try out for Major League Baseball. Jimmy and his wife (Rachel Griffiths) probably never thought that it would lead to anything, but when the team makes the playoffs Jimmy embarks on a journey to try out as a forty something rookie for the Tamp Bay Devil Rays. This movie is the inspiring story of Jimmy and his family as he goes forward to make his dreams come true. |
