| Plot |
| The final days of Paul of Tarsus (Abraham Sofaer) and Simon Peter (Finlay Currie) are shown along with Christians killed in the Roman Coliseum by Nero (Peter Ustinov) and blamed for Rome burning. Also, Marcus Vinicius (Robert Taylor), a soldier and commander, falls in love with a slave name Lygia (Deborah Kerr), while his uncle Petronius (Leo Genn) is amused when Lygia does not return his affection. Lygia’s guard, Ursus (Buddy Baer), roughs up Marcus, who ends up in Nero’s court but is unhappy without Lygia. Nero feels trapped by Petronius and hatches a plan to make Christians seem guilty of destruction in Rome so he can send them to die and entertain the citizens. Vinicius doesn’t want to live under Nero’s rule and prays to God for help in defeating him. |
