| Plot |
| Set in the turbulent times at the end of the Han dynasty in China, "Red Cliff" is about a pivotal battle in the longer struggle between 3 warlords and their followers. Cao Cao (Fengyi Zhang), the Prime Minister and true power behind the throne, leads a vast army and naval armada against his rivals Liu Bei (Yong You) and Sun Quan (Chen Chang). The two other warlords are vastly outnumbered and must ally if they are to survive. The movie focuses on Zhuge Liang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) and Zhou You (Tony Leung) who are the respective strategists of Liu Bei and Sun Quan respectively, starting from the initial negotiation of an alliance between their two sides and up to the first skirmish with Cao Cao's forces. |
